Overview
We compete under the NCSA playing around 4 league games a year and around 3-4 non league games per year. Our goal is to have a fun and competitive team. We strive to qualify for nationals each year and foster a we over me atmosphere. Club softball is about having time to do other things but still being able to compete competitively and work hard at something you love.
Rosters
We offer three distinct roster options tailored to fit different levels of commitment and playing time:
-
Practice Squad: Designed for members focused on skill development through regular practice sessions. Practice squad members do not participate in games but are encouraged to join all team events outside of game days. There are no mandatory practice requirements for this roster.
-
Travel Team: For players dedicated to both practice and game participation. Travel team members attend 2-3 practices weekly and compete in games. While they receive less playing time compared to the competitive team, they pay reduced dues.
-
Competitive Team: Reserved for our most committed athletes. Competitive team members are required to attend three weekly practices, unless excused, and receive the highest amount of playing time during games. This team sets the highest standards and is the most competitive to join, reflecting our program's emphasis on excellence. Members of this team contribute the most in dues to support their extensive training and game opportunities.
Each roster option is designed to accommodate varying levels of dedication and playing commitments, ensuring a fulfilling experience for all members of our club.
Practice
We conduct practices three days a week on Sheakley Lawn. The number of practices required varies based on your roster placement. Each practice session typically lasts about an hour and a half. At the beginning of every semester, practice times are selected through the university.
Game Days
We participate in game series consisting of 2-3 consecutive games per day, typically scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays, either at home or away. Our home field is conveniently located approximately 15 minutes away. For transportation to games, we organize carpooling arrangements, traveling to locations spanning from Ohio State to Kentucky.
Throughout each semester, both in the fall and spring, we typically compete in around four game series, providing ample opportunities for competitive play. We also compete at a National and Regional level if we qualify.
Outside Activities
As a team, we prioritize team bonding through several annual events such as bowling nights, movies, games, dinners, and more. These activities aim to strengthen camaraderie and foster a supportive team environment.
Additionally, we organize approximately three fundraising events per semester. Team participation in these events is strongly encouraged and may be required for some activities. These efforts help sustain our program and enhance our opportunities for success both on and off the field.
